I don't control my writing muse, but rather I am persuaded by it and I heed its direction. Hence, this piece... Clock That will be a new series here on LLW.
Pascagoula and Moss Point right here. That’s where my dad lived. I spent summers there and went to school in VA. Then I moved to MS full time for three years. When I was there in the summer, I stayed in the library. I appreciate your piece.
Awesome! I'm often amazed at how far reaching Mississippi roots can go. I love hearing about other people's people in the Sip when I tell them that's where I'm from.
It's very important to search for the beauty beyond the pain. Definitely, we shouldn't be dismissive of it or undermine in any way at all. But we still have to hold the beauty of it close to us. The Sip has some people who are just salt if the earth. I love that for us.
Such wonderful writing, so much for me to ponder. Thank you.
Thank you for reading!
Super excited to read this!

You reminded me of all of the cool people from MS. A lot of the time I just think about the overt racists and internalized racism.

Actually, I am writing about that feeling from being with other southern Black folks.
Beautifully written. I taught college History for 7 years and belong to 5 generations of teachers in my family. I love your description of Mrs. Beale.
Thank you! Mrs. Beale was one of a kind! Five generations of Black Educators sound like a book idea to me, hint hint.
Thanks 😉!
