What is The Literary Lightworker?
The Literary Lightworker features writings as well as other engaging content based on anything within the Black Arts spectrum. That’s the short explanation. On a much deeper note, The Literary Lightworker is a space for the preservation of Black living and being; Black thinking, talking, and acting. Here, you will find much to satisfy your thirst and hunger for intellectual bread, spiritual milk, and cultural honey.
What will you see here?
Thematic Writing Series: Catch a vibe by reading and interacting with pieces written under the auspices of certain themes, such as the Inspired By series which is a collection of writings inspired by Black culture from different eras.
Short Fiction: From time to time, there will be some fiction for your leisurely reading posted here. Don’t worry. Short fiction means exactly that. There is no intention of being long-winded with this one.
Essays: Critical analysis, keen observations, and sometimes vulnerable takes will be featured in essay form. The intention is for these essays to be rooted in various works of literature, whether fiction or nonfiction but not limited to that alone. This is where the brain work happens.
Podcast Episodes: Sometimes, the writings will need an audible companion. So, you will get podcast episodes that may expound on points, topics, and themes highlighted in the written pieces.
Lectures & Visual Content: From time to time, lectures will further expound on certain aspects of the written pieces, themes, and topics. But also, visual content will be interviews, feature stories, and who knows, maybe a short film or web series episode.
Community-Building: There’s no need for The Literary Lightworker to talk at you. Instead, this newsletter is purposed to talk with you regarding the features on the site. LLW is committed to offering a space for subscribers to engage with the content as well share their thoughts and feelings. Some web and in-person events will be offered as well.
